About Rene Johnson

Rene’ Johnson entered the insurance industry in 1984 after graduation from Butler University on an athletic scholarship. Rene’ holds a Degree in Business from Butler and is in the Butler University Athletic Hall of Fame.  Rene’ started her career with a fellow Butler University alumnus who owned a small insurance brokerage firm in Indianapolis, Indiana. Rene’ was quickly promoted from administrative duties to the sales department where she recruited agents and assisted in selling employer group insurance products. This position allowed ample opportunities to learn the many facets of selling and servicing clientele. In 1986 Rene’ married and moved back to the Lafayette, Indiana, area where she grew up and pursued her insurance career.

In 1990 Rene’ started Advanced Benefit Design, LTD, her company that specializes in designing and servicing employee benefit packages. In 1993 her business expanded and she joined New York Life Insurance Company as a career agent. With this additional position, Rene’ received the training and products to branch out into financial planning, business succession planning, retirement planning, estate planning, budgeting and worksite marketing.  Rene’ is now in her 25th year of her New York Life career and 28th year as a business owner. She has been with the insurance industry for 34 years. Her growth and enjoyment comes from building client relationships and strengthening current clientele relations.

Rene’ has a strong commitment to the women’s market and the veterinarians in the state of Indiana. She has been the AVMA/GHLIT Representative for the state of Indiana for 16 years.

Customer service is a high priority and work ethic is a “hands on” approach by helping clients with any situation that arises.  She strives to build strong relationships with her clients by taking the time to listen to their needs and create effective plans to meet their personal and professional goals.

Rene’ currently lives in Lafayette, Indiana, with her husband Jack of 32 years. They have one daughter, Kelsey, who is a Purdue University graduate living in Denver, CO.
